Cabasse
- History and heritage: A typically Provençal village, Cabasse-sur-Issole was built in the Issole valley and has always occupied a privileged place in the Var. during the Gallo-Roman period, the city which was called Matavo, was crossed by the road which connected Spain to Italy. Subsequently, in the Middle Ages, became the dependency of the tale of Fréjus, of which there are still narrow streets, ramparts of the gates and the north postern, Cabasse-sur-Issole is a very charming village with its narrow streets, its fountains which adorn the plots of the village but also its vaulted passages under medieval houses.
Thanks to its basement, Cabasse sur Issole knows, at the end of the 19th century its period of glory and becomes prosperous. The Var center, of which Cabasse sur Issole is a part, is the main non-ferrous ore basin in France and the most important bauxite site in the world.
