Entrecasteaux

History and heritage:

Built in the 16th century on the ruins of a fort transformed in the 17th and 18th centuries, the village has retained all of its 11th century charm. Former residence of Provençal nobles, with its garden designed by Le Notre, the castle has been restored according to the rules of the art.
The entire village is listed as a historical monument, with its old houses and the fortified church of Saint Sauveur.
The situation :
25 kilometers north / east of Brignoles, Entrecasteaux is located in the valley of the Presque and is surrounded by wooded hills.

The castle, located in the heart of the village with its labyrinth. The vaulted passages and the ascending streets, the 16th century houses with their decorated lintels. The calades (old narrow cobbled streets) lined with high and very narrow facades, complete a picture of a medieval village.

As you walk up and down to the northern part of the castle, go to the cooler, a rare round building, once used as a "refrigerator" for the guests of the chatelains.
