Seillons Source d'Argens

- History and heritage:

The history of Seillons, source of Argens, begins in the pre-Roman period with an evolution over the centuries with the successions of the lords of Seillons.
In the village, the old houses stretch to the top of the hill where there is an 18th century castle which is an integral part of the decor. In the Middle Ages the castle was built on a hill of travertine (limestone sedimentary rock). There are traces of a moat, an old keep, as well as an ancient village under the castle. This site allowed good defense and showed everyone the power of the master of the place. Today the village looks like a Provençal nativity scene crisscrossed with small cultivated terraces.
