Flayosc

- History and heritage:

The Ligurian ancestors had chosen to set up their outpost on the quiet promontory overlooking the Flayosquet valley. Their presence is evidenced by the Roman bridge and the remains of two oppidas located a few kilometres away. The Romans were then attracted by the mild climate and the famous vineyards. The Flavius estate may have given rise to the name Flayosc, the suffix osc being a Ligurian suffix. Later, the Saracens and their bloody raids urged the inhabitants to surround their town with high walls.
