Camps la source

- History and heritage:

Formerly named Val de Camps, then Camps les Brignoles, the current name owes its origin to a deliberation taken by the Municipal Council in 1936.
The village is built around its church dedicated to Saint Mary around 1017, on the southern slope of the hill of Saint-Sébastien.
Until the 18th century, the Abbey of Saint-Victor in Marseille retained the authority of Camps-la-source.
Since 1616, Camps-la-source has had its own coat of arms with fleur-de-lis cross, on which is inscribed the village motto: In campis fructificabo (in the fields we will flower).
Wearing this coat of arms allowed hatters to avoid paying local taxes and farmers to pay their taxes at a lower rate than in the Middle Ages under Louis XIII.
