Vins sur Caramy

A former bauxite mining village, the village has a castle listed in the inventory of historical monuments. The origins of this castle date back to the first half of the 16th century. The construction corresponds to a period of transition between the medieval fortress, with its 4 corner towers and loopholes, and the so-called "pleasure house" of the Renaissance with its large mullioned windows.
The Roman bridge built in 1862, also listed as a historical monument since 1931, spans the Caramy and has the particularity of having 3 arches and is accompanied by a dam on the river and a small lock.
The old bridge, which was built of wood, was called "Planque", and existed on the same site as the present stone bridge, but was damaged several times by floods, in particular that of 1788 which saw the collapse of the main arch and had to be replaced" by the present bridge, in stone.
